The Friends of Lower Macungie Library was established in May 2010 with the following purpose:
Meetings: Meetings are held in the library the third Saturday of every month, September through May.
Membership: Dues are $10 per calendar year. Members have an exclusive preview of book sale items at the Friends Preview Night.
Ways to become involved:
Normally two book sales are held every year in the library in early May and late November. Super deals on fiction, non-fiction, audios, movies and children’s books. Most are priced from $.50 to $2.00. All proceeds benefit the library. A special thank you to Hugh E. Friel, DSS, MDS for sponsoring our book sale bags since 2013.
We’re currently not accepting donations at this time.
Please place donations of books and other materials to the library in the receptacle outside the Friends’ Room (near the public restrooms.)
Acceptable donations include:
- gently used books (hardcover and paperback)
- DVDs, music CDs, and audiobooks on CD.
Unacceptable donations include:
- items that are damaged, dirty or incomplete
- magazines, newspapers, textbooks, encyclopedias
- Reader’s Digest condensed books.
A receipt will be provided upon request. By law, library staff cannot set value for donated materials.
Accomplishments: To date, we have given $98,628 for special projects including the Leadership Gift to the Campaign to Transform LML. We have supported programming, staff development, redesign of the library website, and general technology needs. We purchased kiosks for the iPad catalogs and other equipment and furniture.
We’d love to hear from you! Please contact us.
